About Sue
Who I Am
I’m Sue Flageolle, and I’m seeking the Democratic nomination for Jefferson County Assessor.
My personal values have always aligned with protecting our democracy, demanding justice for all, rejecting racism, promoting equitable pay, and supporting opportunities for marginalized communities.
I was unaffiliated until June 2025. I am a DEMOCRAT who, for the record, never voted for Trump.
Like Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton, I came to the Democratic party later in life, and I am SO glad to belong to the party that TRULY cares about the people!
As the current Deputy Assessor…
I have worked diligently within the Assessor’s Office to establish fair and equitable values for all – everyone pays their fair share. I feel it is important to listen to the issues that property owners have with their assessments, to see what I can do to improve our process, to provide documentation on our website that details how values are established, and continuously learn the rules and regulations of the appraisal industry and Colorado statute.
Sue Flageolle
Sue is running for Assessor to ensure fair, transparent valuations for Jefferson County residents, backed by strong technology and an understanding of statutes and market dynamics. With decades of experience in appraisal and local government, she is ready to lead with integrity and hit the ground running.
Sue’s passion for data, accuracy, and education has shaped her work, whether training staff, listening to property owners, or aligning methodologies with professional standards. Her personal experience as a homeowner deepens her understanding of property ownership challenges in Colorado.
Born in Newburgh, New York, Sue’s journey took her from a small farming community in Illinois to the suburbs of Philadelphia. After graduating from Geneva College near Pittsburgh, PA, she entered the real estate industry, starting as a secretary at the College’s Physical Plant and eventually moving to Denver, Colorado in 1981 where she began as a support secretary for Cushman & Wakefield, advancing to an Executive Secretary to 6 Vice Presidents and then joining the Appraisal department. Mentored by experienced appraisers, Sue developed a lifelong commitment to valuation.
In 1989, Sue became an independent contract appraiser, earning her Certified General Appraisal License and Associate Membership with the Appraisal Institute. Seeking balance and purpose, she joined the Douglas County Assessor’s Office in 1993, where she developed residential and commercial valuation models, and implemented new mass appraisal processes and systems. She played a key role in launching a new Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system for Douglas County in 1997.
Sue continued her work at the Jefferson County Assessor’s Office in 1997, leading multiple software conversions and designing technology-driven appraisal procedures. She is now a principal on the county’s shift to a cloud-based CAMA platform, scheduled for launch in 2026.
Sue is a step-mom of 4, 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grands with one on the way. Two daughters work for the Jeffco school system and she understands the importance of supporting our schools. Sue was co-owner of a small business that is flourishing today and understand the ramifications of property taxes on businesses.
My Democratic values are what motivate me to provide the most consistent, fair and equitable values to the citizens of Jefferson County.
